The Happenings of Late....

So school is back in full swing, which normally means this page is kept up to date with all the fun things that happen. But that has not been the case for the past 6 months! To start what is to be a long recap of the past few months I'll post some pictures now because I'd rather do that than start my project report that is due in 2 days!

Going back in time to last weekend we arrive in Squamish. 8 of us drove up early Saturday for a day of climbing before the rain was due. We were knocking off the climbs at 'neat and cool' when Krystil and Nick rocked up to teach us all a lesson or two about how climbing's done. Then shortly after at the top of a climb messing with the anchor a familiar face pops over the top of an adjacent climb - Anja from Mountain Lake (story to follow). Now there were a whopping 15 of us! After a few climbs the original 8 of us headed over to Penny Lane. All our climbs of choice were taken so Piotr decided to try to climb a "5.6, 1 star, relavively unclimbed" climb called "Satan's Slit." These all should have rang some alarm saying not to climb it but we (he) tried anyway. An easy start led to me standing at the bottom for well over half hour with Piotr out of sight and curses emanating from somewhere above. After an eternity I hear "lower me slowly, very slowly" from Piotr, who decided to bail off of one moderately placed cam! With Piotr safely on the ground it was time for inspection: his pants were all covered in blood from his knees due to a "body jam" technique he made up trying to squeeze up the 1.5 foot wide crack! The afternoon was spent hiking up the back and rappelling from 2 ropes through the trees into the nasty crack. I had a hard time just rappelling through the crack, getting a little jammed at times. It definitely would have not been easy to climb! Note to climbers: this climb is not recommended!

Sunday was spend with my Mom and Greta. We drove down to Mt. Baker to so for a hike through the alpine. Unfortunately it turned out really rainy, but we hiked around for a few hours anyway. The colours of the alpine shrubbery were really beautiful, everything is changing colour now in preparation for winter. The blueberry bushes were especially pretty with their bright red colour!
